INTO THE WIND

Into the Wind is a dance performance by De Stilte in collaboration with Artvark Saxophone Quartet, bringing together four dancers and the musicians of the quartet. Inspired by images of autumn, wind and moving against resistance, the performance combines dance and live music in a constantly shifting encounter between dancers and musicians.

I was particularly drawn to the original saxophone music by Artvark Quartet, which became the main inspiration for my costume design. I wanted to translate something of its beauty, warmth and elegance into the costumes, while also drawing on the autumnal atmosphere of the piece. I developed a palette of warm, earthy tones and silhouettes that balance visual expression with the dancers’ freedom of movement. The costumes were produced in collaboration with professional tailors.
