POPpulism
Het Filiaal, 2023, Netherlands

How do you bend a country to your will?
In the kingdom of Berg en Dal (Mountain and Valley), the valley is almost always in the shade, while the mountain gets plenty of sun. That's just the way it is. Until valley-dweller Barrie comes up with a revelation: the mountain-dwellers are stealing the sun! He claims he can get their sun back and eventually becomes the valley's “hero”. But is what he says really true?
POPpulism is a comic show with a dark edge. With four actors, live percussion and vocals. The absurd and clever text by Eva Gouda is played entirely with puppets and shows how manipulation works.
*Inspired by the book The Brief and Frightening Reign of Phil by George Saunders.
