A VERY SCARY
STORY

A Very Scary Story is a clowning performance inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Rather than treating the story as horror, the production plays with its familiar vampire clichés, turning them into parody and black comedy.

For the scenography and costumes, I developed a deliberately grotesque and graphic visual language. The world of the performance is built around black, white and red, with red becoming the main accent throughout the set, costumes and props.

Instead of trying to create a believable gothic world, I used recognisable elements of the Dracula myth in a theatrical and playful way — oversized silhouettes, sharp contrasts, painted surfaces and artificial details. The visual style supports the clowning from the very beginning: the characters belong not to a frightening world, but to an exaggerated comic version of one.
